Thank you for your purchase of the Samson 3 by J&M Aviation, designed and built for Second life fliers by a real life flier Josh Noonan. This is a Non Combat enabled fun flying aircraft scripted for the pilot and a passenger.
In the box you have the Samson 3 Display aircraft (not for flight) and the Samson 3 V2.1 with autorez Wearables. (rez on ground) and the Samson 3 Flight Manuel (your reading it).
REAL LIFE HISTORY:
This Samson is a replica of the Pitts Samson built in 1948 by Curtis Pitts. Samson was completed in 1985.
It was built as the ultimate air-show performing plane with lots of noise, smoke and performance. The 985 Pratt and Whitney swung a 10 foot diameter propeller which would have a full 7 inches go supersonic during a routine, making this one of the noisiest planes on the circuit. Dual smoke pumps also made it one of the smokiest! With a power to weight ratio 50% better than a P51 Mustang, it had a fantastic climb rate. Steve showed this in his routine by taking off from a standstill, performing a full roll then into 3 consecutive Immelmans all within 1500 feet from take off! It performed so well that during take off you could climb out knife edge and by the end of a 4000 foot runway you could roll inverted and split-S through. It is one of the few airplanes that could pivot 90 degrees and fly knife edge out of a hammerhead. The airplane is fun to fly because it never quits flying. It is very mild in the stall and has so much thrust that anything over 120 mph was wasted airspeed. SAMSON has a cruise speed of 180 mph which makes it easy to travel from show to show.
Rez the Samson 3 and select “Fly” from the PIE menu. (Please make sure that any ANIMATION OVER RIDES are OFF) Now you will get a message asking you to accept the attachment. Say yes to this message. Now you are seated in the pilots seat and ready for flight.
Type "st" in chat to start the engine and then use the "page up and Page Down" keys for the power lever. When at the end of the runway advance the power to 60% to 70% and bring the nose up with the "down arrow". (You have the option of using "mouse Look" if you wish). at 2 meters you will have bank control using the "left and right" arrow keys. Cruise at 60% and climb like a rocket at anything above that.
When ready, reduce the power to 50% and the Samson 3 will gradually drop it's nose and descend (a cruise descent is possible at any power setting with the nose down). When you are above the end of the runway reduce the power to 30% and the Samson 3 will descend to a landing using intermittant down arrow to flare. taxi at 10% to 20%.
"Dynamic Camera Use" Type "c" in the Chat window to turn the Dynamic Camera "on and off" This camera is useful when flying outside the cockpit (non-mouse look flying) for aerobatics.
The flight controls are standard for SL FLIGHT SCRIPTS:
